Serious post

As much as I wish this was yet another competition, I have a serious post.

Someone opened a facebook account with my email address. Now, I actually do have a facebook account - possibly a different address to the one which was used. So I've reported it, and slowly I'm not going to use that email address any more. I have no idea what the implications are that someone used me. It is scary.

Any suggestions as to what else I can do would be wonderful.

Wow--that's so scary! Why would anyone do that??? What did Facebook say about it? Did you visit the page linked to the account? Did they photos up or any posts?

Well, it was the 'you have opened an account' email. So I clicked on the link saying 'if this hasn't been requested by you, click here'. Apparently the account was then disabled. I think that's it. I stupidly didn't visit the page - couldn't have without knowing the password. Was just annoying!

(Um...do you know if my email reached you? I'm not stalking you but don't always trust my email!)

Something similar has happened to me--just the other day, as a matter of fact. I got an email notice that somone using my email address had signed up for a newsletter. I got spammed by this place until I sent them a notice that it wasn't me.

The best thing would be to change your email password (just as a security measure; it's doubtful the person hacked your email, but better safe than sorry, right?) and report the incident, like you did.

Sorry that that happened to you :-( It's kind of scary, isn't it?

*hugs*

So is there any new news on this? Do I need to change my email for you?

Nope, my email stays the same. I have like *counts* 3 accounts, so its all good. I will probably change my password though, but that won't affect any of you. Just realised I have changed my amazon password and now can't recall it...oh well!
