Imperial Intrigue = challenging wip

I suppose everyone must have one, a wip which really tests them. Mine is currently Imperial Intrigue.

I've finished chapter 8, and tried starting number 9, then realised I need to think about it some more. I think the reason why it's harder is because there are several POV's, several different stories told throughout the wip. Keeping track of these, making sure everyone's voice is different, even at this early stage, is a little tricky.

Plus, as I've said in the comments of a different post, this isn't a happy book. People die. Family relations get splintered, and for a while severed. The original version had more light hearted moments than this version is having. I'm happier with this version, but finding it tricky to write. I have to be in the right mood for it, otherwise my muse gives up and demands video games.

*sigh*. Yes, my muse rules my life. Doesn't yours?

So I guess this is why I'm dabbling with other wips, which are more light hearted and fun. Bear with me. II will get written eventually.

My life and my pocket book! >.<

Testing is good. This means you're learning and growing. Mine is Isles of Skye. I'm still working at learning enough so I can write it.

:) You'll get there. I know why II didn't work the first time - among other reasons, Termion hadn't been written yet!

That's great you've gotten that figured out. Wouldn't it be great if the Muse let us in on what she was doing a little more often? ;)

I love "heavy writing" - it's so rewarding. But draining, yes. And yes, my Muse does rule my life. URGH.
